Indus Coin Necklace
A collaboration with the National Museum of Australia
Inspired by Indus Seals, 2500 - 2000 BCE, Found in Ur (modern Iraq) and Afghanistan.
The Indus civilization covered over 500,000 square kilometres of what is now Pakistan and neighbouring parts of India. This vast civilization was forgotten for over 3500 years, the Indus seals remained. Carved in steatite (soapstone) and used to create impressions in soft clay, the marks on seals like these are yet to be deciphered, still they hold the clue to learning more about the Indus society.
Brass gold plated seal and chain. Chain length: 44cm + 3cm chain extension
